New Man #4, Shattered Image #1-4, Mars Attacks Image
#1-4, Altered Image#1-3, Sonic Super-Special #7
Eddie Collins made his rather auspicious debut as ShadowHawk
in New Man #4, the final chapter in the ShadowHunt saga.
Having just moved to New York with his recently widowed father, James,
an electrician, Eddie was walking down a street when the helmet from
the now destroyed robot ShadowHawk literally fell into his hands. It
could have been anyone…or could it?
Donning the helmet, the costume morphed around his body, increasing
his strength, his agility and his stamina. He would not discover why
for sometime (the secrets will be revealed in The Return of ShadowHawk
#1).
Eddie lay fallow for several years appearing only in the crossover series,
Shattered Image, Mars Attacks Image, Altered Image
(wherein I made Image’s second attempt at creating a super-team) and
the inter-company crossover in Sonic Super-Special #7 (where
I created a slightly altered version of the group just for fun)!
His first full-length story was to appear in the anniversary book, Image
Comics (don’t ask), The Return of ShadowHawk will be released
in September, 2004 and will, most likely, constitute his first solo
published appearance.
ShadowHawk was briefly in the first attempt at an Image super-team,
Brigade (issues #20-22) and has made cameo appearances in several
other books including, recently, Invincible #8 and Noble Causes:
Family Secrets #3. Where we go from here is a…mystery.
